Enjoying God's Blessings

1 Samuel 1:27-28

27 I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. 28 Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.” And they[a] worshiped the Lord there.
 1 Samuel 2:1-2
Hannah’s Prayer of Praise
 1 Then Hannah prayed:
   “My heart rejoices in the Lord!
      The Lord has made me strong.[a]
   Now I have an answer for my enemies;
      I rejoice because you rescued me.
 2 No one is holy like the Lord!
      There is no one besides you;
      there is no Rock like our God.

Scriptures taken from the Holy Bible (New Living Translation)

Karol Ladd’s devotional book, The Power of a Positive Mom, has always lifted my spirit.   In one of her devotionals, Delighting in God’s Blessings, she talks about giving thanks to God for all our answered prayers.  This has reminded me to always thank God for all the blessings He has showered upon me.  The simple gathering we had last Sunday for my son’s 2nd birthday was proof of God’s unfailing love.
For the past two years, I struggled with two ADS- not advertisements but adjustment and adversity.
First,  adjustment in being a mother.  Happy but sleepless nights.  Balancing work and family life.  Not that easy but God has seen me through.
Second,  adversity has struck us last year.  Ondoy Storm (Sept 26, 2009) has left us homeless before my son Caleb turned one.   Not that easy but God has provided us shelter right after the storm.  We stayed at my brother-in-law’s house, then transferred to my uncle’s house.  Three months after, on December 24, 2009 we finally moved in our condo unit at Cambridge where we held the party last Sunday.
In those two years, I’ve seen how God provided for us—bills were miraculously paid, there’s always food in the ref,  and a God-fearing caregiver was given to my son.
There’s a lot to be thankful for…Just seeing relatives and friends join us last Sunday, even with our very short notice invitation, prompts my heart to be very thankful—for their time & their sincere smiles.  (And of course,  for making Caleb happy with their gifts).
 These are enough for me to stop and thank God for always loving me and showing me that I’m never alone.

  1. The title of your blog completely describes you - a lady with one grateful heart. You have not been struggling only for the past two years, you've been hurdling one obstacle after another for years. But even during the worst circumstances, your faith never faltered. And I admire you for that. Continue inspiring us who are not as strong as you. We are indeed so blessed to have you in our lives!
